Citizen Kane

Last summer I visited the Hearst Castle and learned about William Hearst so I find it very interesting to see a movie based on him. This movie in my opinion incorporates all of the basics of a great film, however I disagree agree with the statement that this is the greatest film of all time, because there are a few parts that I feel as if they drag on for too long. On the other hand I find the way the movie switches between the views of different characters to be very well done.

  1. So which part do you find to be a bit slow? The only one that I can remember dragging a bit is the atmospheric shot of Xanadu before Kane dies, and that one wasn't even that bad.

  2. I went to Hearst castle too, its really cool there. It seems exactly like the kind of thing a Kane or Hearst would want to live in.

  3. Well, the "best" anything is ridiculous. But, Kane brought a lot of new techniques onto the screen all together. It's a horn of plenty for film buffs because it's all there. Think of the chronology alone. Begins near the end, goes to the middle, jumps to the beginning, ends at the end.
